Relationships do not require self-abandonment

Attachment security can be deeply misunderstood,

as being low-needs,

unbothered, unaffected,

indifferent emotionally.

Though security is not the absence of vulnerability.

it lies in our capacity to remain connected,

connected to ourselves,

to others,

to our relationships,

even when things feel tender or uncertain,

especially then.

To be securely attached may still bring hurt,

a longing for reassurance,

fear of loss or distance,

and the need to repair.

The difference is not to feel nothing.

it is in the capacity to care,

to reach, to reflect, to repair,

to notice your needs without shame,

to communicate them with honesty,

and to stay connected to your vulnerability in the process.

Security is not certainty,

it is flexibility, it is honesty,

it is trust in self,

and in the growing belief that

relationships do not require self-abandonment,

to keep connection alive.
