DBT Therapy
dialectical behaviour therapy

Sometimes emotions can feel intense,

overwhelming, or difficult to manage.

You might find yourself reacting quickly in moments of stress,

feeling emotionally flooded, shutting down,

or struggling to cope with the intensity of what you are feeling..

It can feel difficult to slow things down enough to respond in a way you would like to.

DBT is an evidence-based, structured, skills-focused approach

that supports you to better understand and navigate emotions,

relationships, stress, and overwhelming experiences.

DBT focuses on building skills in:

  • emotion regulation - understanding and managing intense emotions,

  • distress tolerance - coping through difficult moments without becoming overwhelmed

  • mindfulness - building awareness and connection to the present moment,

  • interpersonal effectiveness - navigating relationships, boundaries, and communication with greater clarity and confidence

Our work together is attachment-focused and trauma-informed.

It may include:

understanding triggers and nervous system responses.

exploring attachment patterns and relational dynamics,

building self-compassion and emotional safety,

working with shame, fear, overwhelm, or emotional avoidance,

strengthening coping strategies and emotional resilience,

developing steadiness within relationships and within yourself,

This isn't about suppressing emotions,

it is to build greater understanding, flexibility, and support around emotions,
and having more awareness, choice, and understanding
in moments that feel hard.
