Therapy for Military, Veterans, and Emergency Services
Some roles ask you to hold a lot.

To stay steady in moments that are anything but.
To respond quickly, keep functioning under pressure,
and continue showing up,
often while holding experiences that others may never fully see or understand.

Over time, that can take a toll.
Not always in obvious ways,
but in how stress, trauma, responsibility, and hypervigilance
can become held in the body, the nervous system, relationships, and everyday life.
and the interpersonal strain that can exist
navigating hierarchy, pressure, responsibility, workplace culture, and conflict,
feeling that vulnerability and emotional needs must be pushed aside to function.

You might notice:
difficulty switching off or relaxing,
feeling constantly alert, on edge, or emotionally guarded,
irritability, frustration, anger, or emotional shutdown,
trouble sleeping, nightmares, or persistent fatigue,
memories or experiences that feel hard to shift,
feeling disconnected from yourself, loved ones, or life outside work,
struggling to slow down, trust others, or ask for support.

For many veterans and emergency service workers,
there can also be a hesitation to reach out,
a sense that you should be able to manage on your own, keep pushing through,
or that others may not truly understand the nature of what you have experienced.

In this space, there's no expectation to explain everything perfectly,
to revisit experiences before you are ready, or leave behind coping strategies
that helped you get through difficult situations.

Using a trauma-informed and attachment-focused lens,
we work to understand not only what you have experienced,
but how those experiences may still be impacting your nervous system,
relationships, emotions, and sense of self today.

Our work may include:
understanding trauma responses and hypervigilance,
building emotional regulation and nervous system safety,
processing difficult or unresolved experiences,
exploring impact of workplace culture, hierarchy, conflict, responsibility and pressure,
working with emotional shutdown, anger, guilt, or overwhelm,
supporting adjustment, identity shifts, or transition out of service,
rebuilding trust, emotional connection, communication and boundaries,
developing ways to feel more grounded, present and supported,
and building a sense of identify outside of the roles you have needed to hold.

I integrate approaches such as EMDR, attachment-focused therapy,
ACT, DBT, TF-CBT, and nervous-system informed approaches.
Therapy is not about taking away your resilience
or asking you to become someone different.
It is about creating space for the parts of you
that may have had to stay guarded for a long-time,
while helping you carry things with greater support, flexibility, and steadiness.
