It is okay to disappoint people,
and sometimes, it is simply the byproduct of being human,
the cost of telling the truth,
or living aligned with our values,
of having your own boundaries, limits, and needs,
of speaking a truth that doesn't match their expectations,
of making choices that honour your wellbeing,
even when they don't make sense to others.
And you cannot meet everyone's needs,
while abandoning your own.
And the disappointment can feel heavy when offered,
when we place worth with how we are received or perceived,
or for what others may think,
When we have learned to fear rejection,
more than self-abandonment.
And disappointment doesn't mean failure.
Maybe it's just you, choosing you,
And not everyone will understand you,
though darling, not everyone is meant to.
