How do we heal while we are still in it?

how do we heal, while we're still in it?

when the threat has not yet passed,

our nervous system on high alert,

mobilised, protective. watching.

our body functioning by its very design,

to survive.

and healing can feel confusing, slow, or even impossible.

deep integration, insight, and resolution - inaccessible,

and this season isn't for forcing calm, or finding closure,

it is building enough safety for this moment,

gently widening moments of choice,

and noticing where agency exists, even if only small..

and here, safety may look like boundaries,

like pacing, like rest, like grounding,

safety in presence, connection, sensation,

like deciding who and what you let close,

and listening to your body, instead of silencing it.

healing here is quieter, more protective,

maybe instead of healing from trauma,

we are healing with it.

tending to ourselves while we endure,

rather than waiting, longing, for the all-clear.

to honour that something deeply meaningful is still happening,

in protection, survival, and quiet care.
